6th September 2008

Solitary will be shooting a video for the track "Keep Your Enemies Closer" on Sunday 21st September. The video is being done by Stan Havard of Visual Concepts. Stan you used to be the lead guitarist in Xentrix and is now in Hell Fighter has worked with loads of bands, so hopefully he'll make us look good.

We've also confirmed a home town show in Preston on 12th December at the Venue in Preston with Freak Jesus and Gallows Gate.  The last time we played in Preston was four years ago so it's like starting all over again.

28th August 2008

Just when we though everything that could go wrong with this album had happened. Copro were informed late last week that the pressing plant we're refusing to press the CD due to us using unlicensed content so production was halted.

The basic problem was we'd used some news reel from a 1979 broadcast of the yorkshire ripper murders as the intro to the song "Predator". The content of the clip obviously stood out, so they asked for the licence to use the clip which we didn't have as we had no idea who the new reader was.

So we got Nick Hemingway to create a new intro as a replacement, all this has been rushed through to ensure the rease date of 27th October wasn't affected.

15th August 2008

"Requiem" is complete and Copro will be releasing it on Monday 27th October the track list is below. It's our intension to upload some samples on our myspace site next week. The artwork has been created by Mike and it's phenomenal, we feel it really complements the music and enhances the feel and theme we envisioned when we started writing "Requiem". Check back for regular updates as there will be plenty over the next two months.

23rd June 2008

Solitary are playing at The Alma in Bolton this Friday 27th June.

June 2008

We've had some initial mixes back from Nick and it's sounding phenomenal, hopefully we should have the finished product in next month or so. We plan to release "Requiem" in October it's our intention to feature on a couple of the covermount CDs in the UK and to do some gigs to support the album's release as we found otu to our cost with "Nothing Changes" timing is essential so we keen to get everything to coincide.

We have a gig on Friday 5th September  at the Alma in Bolton, hopefully if everything goes to plan there will be more to follow.

March 2008

It's a long time since there's been any updates to the site. We've not split up but plenty has gone on in the last two years. All the recording of "Requiem" has been completed, we finished that last year unfortunately Pete Knight has been having a few hearing problems so we've had to go else where to mix the album.

Nick Hemingway will be mixing if at Philia Studio's in Henley on Thames Nick has worked with Cancer, ISOR, Desecration and many more Click here to visit Nick's Site. It's sad that Pete isn't able to finish the album but it's something new for us to have another producer involved.

We played the Alma in Bolton on Friday 14th March it's nearly three years since our last gigs so it'll be interesting to see if we could still do it. Things were a little rusty but we all enjoyed and it was good to be back playing live again

So since July 2006 Andy snapped his Arm whilst arm wrestling in a Pub he was in plaster for 7 Months, Rich now has a 9 month old metaller called William, Libby is still into God Forbid as well, Mike has cut his hair off and spends most rehearsals naked from the waste up and Royston has taken up skipping and cooking chillies for the Massive residents. Most importantly Solitary are back and ready to Thrash like it's 1989.

29 July 2006

Rich has been back in Assembly Line doing the vocals tracks completed thus far are Requiem, Predator, Keep Your Enemies Closer and Hatred which features Chris Astley of Xentrix photo's of that session will be posted soon. The vocal style is quite different to previous efforts with the exception of Hatred.

12th June 2006

All the main guitar tracks and bass lines have been completed for "Requiem". Pete has taken a different approach to recording the guitars and the lads have opted to use two guitar tracks rather than the standard four which is something that they've stuck to on previous releases. Although it's early days everything sounds a lot less cluttered but still very heavy which everyone is pleased about. Click on the link here to see some pictures and a video of Andy recording "Keep Your Enemies Closer".

Next up are the vocals, guitar solo's and the guitar overdubs which will be used to beef up certain sections.  Hopefully they'll be sorted over the next month. We'll add some snippets of what's been completed thus far in the near future so keep checking back for them.

1st June 2006

Copro Records have slashed the price of "Nothing Changes" to £1.99 for a limited period. The band are keen to shift as many copies as possible before "Requiem" is released click on the link to get your copy Coprodirect

Solitary return to Assembly Line Studio's on 3rd of June to complete the follow up to 2004's re-release of "Nothing Changes" The new album entitled "Requiem" will contain 11 tracks the details of which are below.

Requiem Track List

The track Hatred will also feature guest vocals from Chris Astley of Xentrix fame who originally penned the track back in 1993. The song was given to Solitary way back when and featured on their initial demo tape "Desolate" some eleven years ago.

Solitary are also covering Testament's "Into The Pit" carrying on the theme of one classic Thrash song per CD as they did with Sacred Reich's "American Way" on their last release.

The studio has been recently upgraded to include Pro Tools which the band will be using, hopefully this will enhanced the album's overall sound further and the production will surpass their previous efforts.

Regular updates will follow so be sure to check in again soon.

Solitary have been invited to play at Producer Pete Knight's 40th Birthday Bash which will take place on 17th June at the New Central Club in Preston. The band haven't played a hometown show since March 2004 when they appeared with Danish heavyweights Lipid at the Golden Cross. It's been a busy year so far apologies for not updating the site for a regular basis !! Here is the latest news from the Solitary Camp Andy's back in business after his spell in hospital, it took around 12 weeks for him to recover from his operation the good news is that he's now well on the road to recovery and was well enough to play a couple of gigs about a month ago.

The gigs in question were also Mike's first with Solitary and gave the band the opportunity to air some of their new material. Both shows in Bolton and Hull were superb turn out wise and it seems as everyone was impressed with the new line up and Material.

17th November 2004

Solitary lead guitarist Andy Mellor has been rushed in Royal Oldham Hospital for an emergency operation. All the band are very concerned and wish Andy all the best obviously we'll be keeping the site updated with news as and when it arrives.

15th November 2004

Casket Music have released the re packaged version of "Nothing Changes" today the CD contains new artwork and three bonus tracks two of which were on the bands early demo's "Desolate" and "Fear"  which have been reworked and a cover of "The American Way" by Sacred Reich. The CD is available at mid price as the band are conscious that it's 6 years old now and look it at as more of a an introduction to the new line up in preparation for the release of their new album early next year.

As a result of being in the process of recording the follow up to "Nothing Changes"  Solitary will not be touring to promote this re release unless an appropriate support slot materialises in the next three months.

18th July 2004

The lads have been in the studio this weekend and everything has gone very smoothly the majority of the tracks we're done first take which is unheard of. Solitary have always laughed at the number of drop ins and retakes they usually clock up in their visits to Assembly Line. Everyone is really impressed with the direction Pete has taken them in, as it's a starting point for the production of their new material.

14th July 2004

Solitary are in the Studio next weekend re recording some of their early demo's for the imminent re release of Nothing Changes on Casket Music. The band are recording "Once Betrayed" off 1994's "Desolate" demo and "Breakdown" off 1995's "Fear" demo as well as Sacred Reich's classic from 1990 "The American Way" everyone seems really pleased with how the tracks are sounding ten years has definitely made a big difference.

The re mastering of "Nothing Changes will also take place next weekend at Assembly Line, the whole album is being repackaged for the release all the work is being done by New Bassist Mike and the results are outstanding we'll hopefully have the finished artwork on the site soon so keep checking back for that.
