We've not posted a thing on here or myspace for ages but there's been plenty of metal occuring over the summer. We went down to Essex and across to Selby in June both of which were belting gigs. Then after a couple of months of inactivity we did Stockport which was dead and Halifax which was the total opposite a crazy evening of heavy metal.

We've a few shows coming up before Christmas hopefully we'll get a few more in before the years out as thereare one or two venues interested but nothing is confirmed as yet.

Requiem is alsmost a year old so we've decided to drop the price on the website to just £4.99 to celebrate the fact that it's been a phenominal 12 months and the reviews and coverage we've had since it's release have far surpassed our expectations if someone had said we'd have been on three covermount CDs done a video, been played on metal radio shows all over Europe and have Bruce Dickenson play us on his show and get good reviews from loads of metal magazines we'd never have believed them but that's what happened.

So if you've not got it yet get over to our shop and get a copy we've got Predator, Requiem, I See Nothing and Enemies on myspace so that's a good indication of what the album sounds like.

26th May 2009

28th April 2009

We were on Preston FM's "Full Metal Racket"last Saturday,Neil played the interview he did a couple of weeks ago with us along with Predator, Hated, Into The Pit, Keep Your Enemies Closer and Bone Collector. As soon as we get an a copy of the show we'll get it up for anyone who's interested to have a listen too.

We had another blinding gig in Selby earlier this month another reason for us to revist later on this year. We're playing Preston on 8th May hopefully it'll be as good as it was before Christmas. We're heading back to Royston's Stampin Ground at the end of june for a gig in Grays at the Fat Surfer, we've not been that far south since the tour we did in 2003.

We are going to be featured in the next edition of the mega German Metal Magazine Legacy. They doing a feature on us and also putting Enemies on the CD which is fantastic Copro have inked a new deal with distributors over there so it should all tie in nicely.

31st March 2009

15th February 2009

We played our first gigs of the year last week both of which were spot on, and we're looking forward to returning to Selby in April to see how many necks we can knacker that evening. You'll have noticed the video for "Enemies" is on the main page to the site spread the word and let us knwo what you think of it.

The latest edition of Zero Tolerance has a review of "Requiem" details below and make sure you pick up the next edition as we'll be interviewed in it and on the covermount CD.

Solitary Requiem 4/5

With a history stretching back to 1997, Solitary return form a quiet few yearsin the wilderness with a cracking fullblooded thrash assualt. Requiem showcases the ability if the band to the full with some killer riffsand dynamite solo's all backed by the rock solid drumming of Roy Miller. their take on thash is more more the later 90's Testament scholl of thought, with a clinical heavey sound rather than the more acid old school attack of bands such as Evile and Pitiful Reign.

Speaking of Testament, Solitary turn in a very good verson of Into the Pit from the Clasiic New Order Album, here given a modern and brutal reworking, the band even manages to coax Chris Astley of old schoill thrasher Xentrix to lay down the vocals on Hatred. The Uk is enjoying something of a thrash resurgence at the moment and it's not beyond the relms of possibility that Solitary couls rise to the front ranks if they can build on the undeniable quality on display here.

31st January 2009

Gigs have been comfirmed in Preston, Selby and Bolton view the gigs page for full details, more shows to be confimed soon we are aiming to do one or two shows per month in 2009.

3rd January 2009

We are on this month's Terrorizer CD "Keep Your Enemies Closer" is the chosen track we are still waiting for a slot on Metal Hammer so fingers crossed.

Terrorizer also reviewed us the details are below because it takes some finding in the Mag.

Solitary Requiem 6.5/10

Afer a lenghty hiatus Preston thrashers Solitary are back from the grave. Requiem is as hard as a bag of nails to the back of the head and is pitched somewhere inbetween Slayer, Testament and 90's Groove thrash after flying the thrash flag during the lean years, perhaps their time has arrived?

New Online shop is open so you can get all your Solitary goods in time for Christmas. At the moment P&P is free but we'll have to see how that transpires for overseas orders. We've also got New Shirts available for £9.99.

Thanks to everyone who came to see us on Friday in Preston is was great to play a headline show in our hometown again, five years is too long. Thanks also to Neil who played us on the Full Metal Racket show on Preston FM on 5th December.Hopefully we'll sign the year off in style at the Soundhouse on Saturday.

5th December 2008

Rocksound's Ken McGrath has given us 7/10 for Requiem, we think he digs it but strangley claims we are Chimaira fans and have nicked their logo, which is news to us. details are below.

Anyone else been missing Chimaira lately? Solitary have so much so that they've decieded to lift their sound almost perfectly and vitually make off with their logo too. Despite that you just can't beat a big honking guitar riff chugging away over some Pantera style druming. as the odd jabbing Mesuggah moment (Spineless) gives way to some nods at Down

The Aftermath sounds like running at scissors. there's the suitably crushing "Into the Pit".although Hatred is childish toss. Even when they fire in a beatdown("Keep Your Enemies Closer") they do it with class.

Fuck this is good Solitary wont be alone for long.7/10,

We've had three more reviews for Requiem the first being from Belguim Webzine "Concrete Web" it's very detailed and seems to cover everything we've ever done so we've choped it down to the bit about the CD. The guy likes us though as he says "Requiem" is one of his faviourite albums of this genre so far this year. The second one is from Big Cheese unfortunately this one isn't as favourable although the chap does say we are as competent musicans as Machine Head which is an amazing complement. The last one is from Dead Earnest which is a Dundee basted webzine we think he likes it.

We've had three reviews this week, the first one appeared on Dagheisha.com it's an Itailian Metal Webzine so it's in Itailan we've got a Google translation and despite the fact that they have a picture of another band and claim we come from Germany we think that they quite like it. The next one we got is from Pure Metal this is a UK site suprisingly the reviewer remembers "Nothing Changes" and seems to be more impressed with "Requiem" Finally Organ Magazine give us the once over, hard to tell if they like it or not.

30th October 2008

Requiem was released on Monday and it seems to be avialable from most online stores, if you are looking for a copy.

We've been reviewed in this weeks Kerrang and got 3Ks which we're really pleased about. The content of the review is

Homegrown Thrashers Get Nasty On Your Ear Canals

Whilst undoubtedly rooted in Thrash, Solitary mix in a dark and twisted Death Metal influenence to bolster their sound and give it that lovely evil edge.Hammering their way through 11 tracks of prime nastiness, it's something of a suprise that the band have yet to make more of a name for themsevles, since this is definitley metal of a decent calibre played with conviction and an intent to make sure maximum damage is wrought from every moment. Further enlivening matters are the corrosive solos that burn through the heart of the tracks, not one of them sounding superfluious. and the cover of Testament's Into The Pit is damn fine too.

29th September 2008

"The Aftermath" is being included on the Copro Compilation "Cop Out" CD, The CD features 40 Casket and Copro bands, and will be available at a very low price vist the Copro site for more information.

We shot the video for "Keep Your Enemies Closer" on Sunday and are still feeling effects of being very "Heavy Metal". We must have done thirty takes of the song all of which contained very large portions of 80's Slayer head banging and windmilling something we all had to give up a very long time ago. The pain will be worth it though.

26th September 2008

Solitary will be shooting a video for the track "Keep Your Enemies Closer" on Sunday 21st September. The video is being done by Stan Havard of Visual Concepts. Stan you used to be the lead guitarist in Xentrix and is now in Hell Fighter has worked with loads of bands, so hopefully he'll make us look good.

We've also confirmed a home town show in Preston on 12th December at the Venue in Preston with Freak Jesus and Gallows Gate. The last time we played in Preston was four years ago so it's like starting all over again.

28th August 2008

Just when we though everything that could go wrong with this album had happened. Copro were informed late last week that the pressing plant we're refusing to press the CD due to us using unlicensed content so production was halted.

The basic problem was we'd used some news reel from a 1979 broadcast of the yorkshire ripper murders as the intro to the song "Predator". The content of the clip obviously stood out, so they asked for the licence to use the clip which we didn't have as we had no idea who the new reader was.

So we got Nick Hemingway to create a new intro as a replacement, all this has been rushed through to ensure the rease date of 27th October wasn't affected.

15th August 2008

"Requiem" is complete and Copro will be releasing it on Monday 27th October the track list is below. It's our intension to upload some samples on our myspace site next week. The artwork has been created by Mike and it's phenomenal, we feel it really complements the music and enhances the feel and theme we envisioned when we started writing "Requiem". Check back for regular updates as there will be plenty over the next two months.
